A message from the Big Cheese
Over the 8 years we have been in business I have taken great pride in sharing our success with the community, and helping the neighborhoods and the less fortunate of the Ottawa area and beyond. We have never entered into any charitable activity with an approach other than that in which we wish to leave the World a better place than we found it, or help those in need at a critical moment.
We have grown as a company, grown as community builders and grown as human beings. We have also grown the amount of donations, gifts in kind, and charitable work to the tune of about $500,000 last year. I am happy at whom we have become, and where we are, and now find that the demand is greater than ever. We are stretched to supply all the needs in our city, and to provide staff and funds to help everywhere we would like to.
In keeping with this thought, we have decided to take a radically different and new approach to The WORKS charitable giving. Starting immediately the following will take place regarding Community Building & Charitable Donations. I would ask that you read carefully, to fully understand the full impact of the new WORKS Mission towards fundraising.
The WORKS prides itself in making the communities that have been so gracious and generous to us, a target for our Charitable & Community Giving. In response to the overwhelming number of requests that are now flooding our stores and office every week, we are asking our loyal guests and friends to help us direct our efforts in a new manner.
Starting immediately, The WORKS will be funding only CHILDREN'S CHARITIES & CHILD-BASED COMMUNITY GROWTH ENDEAVORS, and we ask that all requests for Charitable Donations or Community Building be forwarded to our Head Office/Burger Central through email or fax (in the near future via the portal on our website) at any time. We will be reviewing all requests monthly, and responding with donations of time and/or donations in kind, within a one month window.
We hope you understand that we are in the restaurant business, and as such enjoy being part of a vibrant city and so many splendid neighborhoods, yet we must organize our staff and funding to help in a most structured way. Currently the sheer volume does not allow that, and as such we have chosen this new path.
Thank you for understanding, and thank you for allowing us to grace your community. We will continue to be strong neighbors, and worthy citizens in this beautiful city of Ottawa for years to come.
